2 stars. Yikes. This was a whole entire mess. Some of the most boring and uninteresting rock stars I've ever read about.

The writing was fine. Nothing great...just fine. The characters were all terrible and I hated everyone in this. After being pushed few times by some of my pick-it-for-me challenge fellows and other friends I have decided to give up and read this book. Now I understand what is this all fuss about.

This is not a book that has changed my life in any way or that I will remember it as time goes by. Seriously, I can't even say that it will be one of my favourite books because it will probably be not. And the plot... to be honest... it is not that innovative or outstanding or something. This is not a book that has changed my life in any way or that I will remember it as time goes by. Seriously, I can't even say that it will be one of my favourite books because it will probably be not. And the plot... to be honest... it is not that innovative or outstanding or something. So what is the magic by its covers? Why to give it a four stars review? Because it is an absolutely great read. It is an essence of entertaining reading. Lick grabs you at the beginning and keeps you glued to it 'till the end. Really.

And I'm not sure if I really can explain that phenomenon.

Because to be honest with you and myself I have to admit that as I said before the plot isn't that wonderful. In fact there are some schemes I usually don't like in my books. Like, if the characters talk to each other a little bit more they wouldn't fight over some minor shit. Or them being jealous without a right to be. Or running away instead of talking. But what is important is that it was all done with such a finesse that it didn't bother me at all. I was just reading on without rolling my eyes even once. That's the magic of this story I think.

And the characters are likeable, too. I generally prefer 3rd person narration and in the first few pages I was afraid I wouldn't have a proper insight into David feelings. But once again it didn't bother me at all during the story. So I believe both David and Ev are described and developed enough. I liked that she isn't some immature crying brat or that his surely difficult past isn't dragged out enormously. I have also enjoyed the interactions with the secondary characters.

And this is it. That's all. It was just a pleasurable book to read. And God knows, how rare it really is! That is why I have given it a strong four starts without hesitation.

I enjoyed this story, it took me about 50 pages to really get into it but then I was all in.

Evelyn wakes up in Vegas after a drunken evening, married, and not only married but married to a rock star, she doesn't know who he is though and finds out when she touches back down in Portland, OR. Now her parents are disappointed in her, her internship/job has been taken away, and paparazzi and fans of Stage Dive are camped out on her parent's fron 3.5 stars.

While I grew to really like David, I wasn't as in love with him as I hoped I would be. There were a couple moments where I felt he was acting like an immature baby, (view spoiler) I also didn't love that (view spoiler)

For the most part I liked Evelyn, she was sweet and really down to earth. However the switch from wanting a divorce to wanting to stay married happened so quickly that I almost had whiplash.

Now I have to talk about the narration. To start with, I had tried to pick this up twice before, once about a year ago, and then another time a couple months ago. I stopped at about Ch 3 or 4. I knew I still wanted to read it but didn't think I'd want to read the physical book, with that in mind I picked up the audiobook from the library.

On the plus side, I was able to listen to this book really quickly, and did enjoy the story and finally got over that hump, that I hadn't been able to get through before. However the narrator I had some issues with how she'd deliver, mostly, David speaking but some of Evelyn's too. The narration where there was no talking was good but as soon as dialogue was on the page her voice (again, especially for David) became rather flat and lines that I read a certain way, with some kind of inflection, was monotone.

Overall this was an entertaining, quick, fun read. I will probably get the others from the library right now. I don't know if this will be a series I keep on my keeper shelf. ...more

I loved this book! It was so awesome.

Its a love story about an ordinary girl named Evelyn and the guitarist, David, of the popular rock band, stage Dive. Their story starts out rough. Evelyn was in Vegas for her birthday, got drunk, met David and they got married. She wakes up in her hotel bathroom with him next to her and she doesn't remember a thing. First thing in her mind is get an annulment. However later on they decided to try and make it work.

I think of this book like I do all of Kristen Ashley's - If I think about it too much it will take away the fun enjoyment...

Ev was kind of all over the place. First she is super hungover and surprised to be married, then she is Daddy's little girl, then she is defiant, then she is a doormat, then she seems to find herself but gives up too easily, then she is heartbroken and finally she seems ready to stand on her own two feet. But she is only 21 so she does have a lot of growing up to do.

I loved this book! I loved the interaction between all the characters. Usually I feel the first book in a series is a lot about the setup for the series, but this one did that and a whole lot more. Yes, it starts out with the got drunk, got married in Vegas...but the story moves on from there and I enjoyed every moment. Will definitely read on in this series.
