Loved it, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I'd heard a lot of grumbling from people who are rabid King fans, that this book was not horror. I suppose in the classic King way, no it wasn't. However, I always wondered what happened to Danny, in The Shining, and now I know. As a lover of paranormal stories, this book did its job, and I loved it. I loved the twists and turns and how Dan came to understanding his gift and how to tame his demons, after all that's really what it's about, isn't it? T ...more

Ok, here's the thing; as I've mentioned in pretty much all my other King reviews, I got into him quite late, and because of such, books that should have (by all means) scared the living bejeezus out of me, didn't, unfortunately. I'd boarded the train too late, so to speak. But they still entertained me, and that is the best way I can describe Doctor Sleep. I started reading it yesterday morning and I only finished it just ten minutes ago. That should tell you everything.

Shelves: set-in-the-usa, 2010-s, 21st-century, horror, fantasy, paranormal

Well we are now more than 6 months into 2014 and I finally have my first 5 star book of the year, and it's probably of little surprise that it's a Stephen King novel that has broken through. He is a brilliant author and is well established as one of my favourite writers.

This is the sequel to The Shining and I do feel a little bit bad in giving this 5 stars when I only actually gave the original 4 stars. However I found that this book and a better flow and gave a better understanding of 'the shi ...more
