I remember reading this a couple of times as a kid, but it doesn't really hold up with an adult re-read.
I'm surprised on how much of this I'd forgotten. I'd remembered the good-versus-evil bits and the fact that they were rescuing their dad, but dystopian subplot and the explicit Christian references were a complete surprise!

I did not like this book.
I thought the characters were flat and the story was boring and pointless. I think I enjoyed it up to the point where the children go to the house and meet the three Wh-s. Then I started to lose interest. I believe that was about chapter 2.
I tried, I mean I read the whole book, so you have to give me credit for trying, but jeez. It was painful. It grated on me that the entire book Charles was Charles Wallace. I don't know why, but that bugged me. And Calvin, who is this ...more

I don't recall reading this as a kid, so I decided to give it a try at the ripe age of 37. Unfortunately, the magic that may have captured my attention at 10 years old seems completely absent to my current brain cells. I want to love this book as much as everyone else does, but Miss Whatsit and Miss Which just don't quite do it for me. Unless, of course, the "it" is putting me to sleep. Maybe I'll try again someday.
