I must say it was excellent. Quite the page turner. I enjoyed Emma's character even when I know I probably shouldn't. But I could relate to her at times. Charles was a fool, who I didn't pity or feel sorry for. She begins to yearn for refinement and starts spending money on objects that she cannot afford – going into debt. Emma eventually begins an affair with Rodolphe who abandons her and then Leon. Her debt grows and she hides her financial situation from her husband. Eventually she becomes so ruined that she determines ...more

I am so thankful for finally finishing this book. The characters were either selfish, stupid, or weak.
