Lorenzo da Ponte was the librettist for Mozart's most famous operas: Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte. He had a remarkable life other than his time in Vienna, including a few years in England and the end of his life in New York, where he became the first professor of Italian literature in America!
