I believe this is one of the first stories by this author and in many ways you can see it: the novel is innocent, naïve, like it was not tainted by the ugly life, and the comparison is right on the spot since this is a story about teenagers and their first love experience. This was my first Young Adult M/M themed story. It came to my attention by chance as being the prequel to the upcoming release of Life After Math by the same author. If not for that, I might have missed the opportunity and pleasure of reading this very poignant and memorable story. At it's heart this is a beautifully written coming of age story which slowly unfolds over the course of a year.
