Wasn't really moved by this story. I think the suburban-soccer-mom type heroine is not so appealing to me. The humour was lacking compared to other stories I've read by this author and the relationship between 'Vampire Concierge' owner Iris and vampire investigator Cal lacked chemistry. ...more

I really liked Iris and her sister Gigi. Cal was alright, but I have to wonder about a hero who (view spoiler) The love seemed somewhat of the instant kind for no real reason. I'm not sure why Iris keep breaking her own rules about vampires (view spoiler) ...more

3.5*s but I'm rounding up because Molly Harper's books are so darn funny. Set in the same world as the Jane Jameson books, Iris is a little more down to earth than Jane. For one thing, she doesn't end up clinging to the ceiling upside down at any point in time. She was Jane's wedding planner in the last book of that series. Read this in one day, and it's over 300 pages. Funny, plenty of mystery and some action. Very little language, and the little bit of sex is relatively clean. Sarcastic humor, just like in the Jane Jameson series also by Harper. Jane, Andrea, & Jolene are in this book for a really cute & funny scene. Their husbands are mentioned, but not in the book. This is book 2, and is about Iris & Cal. Iris runs a concierage service for vampires. Picking up drycleaning, letting in workers fixing something, d ...more

This has a tie in to the Jane Jameson books. Iris provides services for the undead that they are not able to perform during the day. Her newest client, Cal, presents a problem when she finds him poisoned on his kitchen floor. Disobeying all of her self imposed rules, Iris takes him home with her and helps him discover who is out to get him. Cute, quirky and fun 3 stars
