At the point I stopped I would say 2.5 STARS. Why did I stop? Let me tell you about it .....

So I am reading along, 61% done on my Kindle, and suddenly I just don't really care anymore. I don't care if they kill the God or both Gods. I don't care if Andrea and Raphael live happily ever after and I don't care if the draugr eats them all.

I was totally into the book in the beginning. Didn't think I would be since it doesn't have Kate as the MC, but I did actually like it. I liked getting to know An At the point I stopped I would say 2.5 STARS. Why did I stop? Let me tell you about it .....

I was totally into the book in the beginning. Didn't think I would be since it doesn't have Kate as the MC, but I did actually like it. I liked getting to know Andrea more and I honestly love the way the bouda courts. The purple shag carpet was the best love gag EVER. I was good with the book up to this point. When Andrea finally got that stick out of her ass and jumped him I was all "WooHoo, 'bout f*cking time!!!" However, once Ammit showed up outside the window and took them to see Anapa and he started in on all the shit they still had to do, I was lost. Not lost on what was going on, lost as in my interest took a hike. I found myself staring at my curtains and contemplating decorating ideas, kindle long forgotten in my hands. This is significant because 1 - I don't really care about decorating, and 2 - I NEVER ignore or forget I'm holding my precious (kindle).

I no longer had any desire to read through ANOTHER gory fight to the death, 1st with the draugr, THEN with the Snake god thingy AND all his followers, THEN Anapa AND his croc/dogs. Maybe if it had just been the Snake things and a little trickery on Anapa, but I just couldn't hang on for more and more of the same fighting. Andrea is a bad ass. I got it.

So, I'm out for now. I might come back and read a little after I've distanced myself with many books in between. Maybe I'll make it through one of the fights and then have to come back for more later, reading little bit by bit between other books till I get it finished. I really do hate to leave it unfinished, especially since I know there has to be some more fun scenes and dialog with Andrea and Raphael. And Roman, I really like his twisted sense of humor. He had me at Eeyore pajamas.

So, if lots and lots and LOTS of fighting and gore is your thing, read away. Enjoy :)

I like it very much. Sometimes with authors that write long sagas with different characters what happens is that you just get new versions of the same character with a different name (i'm looking at you Wilbur), this doesn't happen in this book. Andrea is a different character from Kate, and it's interesting her take on her.
I particularly like Raphael. He's subtle. And that does not happen often in this sort of books where half the male characters are borderline (or way over the line) possessive ...more

I'm not the biggest Andrea fan. Or Raphael. That said, I loved this story. However, to prevent fangirl gushing I am going to limit myself to a few comments.
I love Curran. I never really cared for Raphael. I love Derek, yet Ascanio leaves me cold. But I am going to marry Roman. He's mine, you hear? All mine.
Andrea is too civil for my tastes. That first scene with Raph she should've done more. They had not officially broken up and yet he was flaunting a new toy in front of her. I would've kicked t ...more

I enjoyed Andrea's story and point of view. Her back-story is horrifying. I liked how she was able to keep on going and accept who she is. I'm glad she and Raphael worked out their issues. I didn't like Raphael or his attitude, but that got better.

I'm glad Andrea got her own story and look forward to reading more. I like the idea of the novellas in this series featuring the secondary characters we love. However, Kate and Curran are still my favorites and I would like the novels to focus on them. ...more
