I adored this book. I enjoyed how Nathan and Astrid worked together. Astrid's intelligence and abilities weren't downplayed or disrespected. She was respected and treated as an equal. There's also Astrid's quiet strength that fortifies and builds Nathan's. Awesome!
I enjoyed each book more than the previous, so if this holds up, Stranger (book 4 and the last) will be kick-ass!

(Love the cover!)

This will probably sound derogatory (not my intention though), but thank heavens this is the last The Blades of the Rose book before the one in which my dear Catullus Graves -the only reason I kept reading this series, since book one- gets to be the hero, because the whole Heirs versus Blades, magic that can make one rule the world, the primary source (whatever that is), and so on kind of plot is getting really tiresome. I think the idea is okay and I have no complain whatsoever

This was a hard book for me to get into. Without any real spoilers, here are a couple of my complaints. I had trouble with how easy the character Nathan adjusted to the changes in his life. I mean seriously, he just had no problem at all with what had to be a pretty difficult thing to adapt to. Then I had trouble accepting that Astrid fell for him so quickly. I admit, I have become a lot more particular about my romances over the years, so this is likely just me being picky. All that being said. ...more

I really enjoyed this. Nathan and Astrid, both isolated individuals, must work together in order to defeat the Heirs of Albion. I liked the characters and the plot, but I kept finding myself waiting for them to join up with other Blades. The time they spent alone relying on each other probably helped the relationship move along quicker, but I just wanted a little bit more of the characters we'd met in past books. I loved the final scenes with Catullus and will definitely be reading his book soon ...more
