A long book that actually requires its length. After A Clash of Kings, which is mostly buildup with a great climax, A Storm of Swords is non-stop action. People are betrayed; some characters die while others grow. Two-dimensional characters become three-dimensional and sympathetic, while already-established characters make terrible mistakes. Some of the horrible ones become even more horrible. And so on and so forth.
Tissues are recommended. I'm not a very emotional reader, but even I got weepy.

I don't think I ate well for at least a week. Some of the topics Martin brings to our attention is a little off putting. This is one hella long ass book, and I loved every damned page of it.
I recommend that you read only if you have time. ...more
Excellent twists and turns. Solves some of the series' mysteries while bringing up new interesting depths. Story can surprise you but is very rewarding. characters you once hated, you'll start question your own judgements. And others you gave far too much credit, show their nature. So so good!
