While reading this book I found myself making predictions about how this series is going to play out based on my reading experience. And you, lucky reader, get to see them! Aren't you excited? I am too! Here we go!
Prediction 1: (Oh my heck, now I can't remember any of them! Crap! Wait, found it.) Lindsey will be killed in the near future. This is because Merit has too many girl friends, and Mallory is not expendable, seeing as how she has her woo-woo stuff. Lindsey is just a secondary character, While reading this book I found myself making predictions about how this series is going to play out based on my reading experience. And you, lucky reader, get to see them! Aren't you excited? I am too! Here we go!
Prediction 1: (Oh my heck, now I can't remember any of them! Crap! Wait, found it.) Lindsey will be killed in the near future. This is because Merit has too many girl friends, and Mallory is not expendable, seeing as how she has her woo-woo stuff. Lindsey is just a secondary character, and Merit will end up going through the loss of a bestie without really losing out on anything.
Prediction 2: (Am I doing this bold thing right? Help me out here people!) Ethan's former flame who is now a Master will come back after he and Merit get it on, and jealousy and cheating suspicions will ensue. It's either this chick whose name escapes me, or Morgan, and let's face it. Morgan isn't much of a threat to Ethan much to my disappointment. Whatever. He deserves better than Merit. And who better than me, of course? Anyways, as a plot device, I abhor the Return of The Ex above all others. Except cheating. I gave up a wonderful-up-to-that-point tv show (Moonlight, in case you were wondering) because of it. Get your freaking head on straight idiot! Your wife is psychotic! She tried to kill a little girl! She used you! You have Beth right in front of you! And Beth! You are a bloody idjit!) Where was I? Yeah, someone who slept with one of the pair will come back and be a Relationship Obstacle. (See how I put it in caps there? That's right.) By the way, totally screwed up the bold thing and now I can't turn it off. Yippee.
Prediction 3: Merit and Ethan will get in a fight and she'll go running away like the mature bee itch she is. Possibly a precluder to the Return of the Ex, which causes even more Relationship Obstacles. Enough said.
I'm sure there was a number 4 and 5, but Tom Smith from the Editors is distracting me with his lovely, lovely voice. Still prefer Kevin Grevioux's voice though. Ooooh, can you imagine him singing? Look him up. He gives me shivers. ...more

"Perfectly handsome face, ridiculous cheekbones, chiseled jaw..."
So, I guess, yes, "chiseled" is a required adjective to use at least once in a vampire book.

Ok, I feel that to rate this book I should focus on the good that merits ("merits", gettit?) the second star, and it is Merit. And it is its interesting female characters, except Celina, that is a carton cut-out.
This book is even more frustrating than Magic Burns, and I love my Ekaterina, she is seriously fucked up, which explains the immatu ...more

I really enjoy these books - they are easy, fun, fast reads. But is anyone else bothered by the way she refers to women as "girls"? Or grown ass men, several who are hundreds of years old, as "boys"? Just me? Ok. Carry on. ...more

Really more a 3.5 and looking forward to the next installment in the series. This second book felt a bit like a transition entry and was a bit slower in plot while still loads of fun in style.
