Charley Davidson is the Grim Reaper - which basically means she is a sparkly portal that ghosts cross through to get to the right plane of existence, she remembers the day she was born, she heals ultra-fast, and oh, yeah, she sees dead people! First line: I’d been having the same dream for the past month—the one where a dark stranger materialized out of smoke and shadows to play doctor with me.

First Grave on the Right is the start of an urban fantasy series staring Charley Davidson, a grim reaper and a self-proclaimed "certified connoisseur of sarcasm." I didn't hate this book but I didn't like anywhere near as much as I thought I would. Charley was funny, but sometimes it was just too much. Totally loved it! Darynda has such sense of humor that reminds me of myself but unlike her I don't usually say it out loud! Honestly, I would burst out laughing and shake my head with the things she say.
I normally steer clear of detective/mystery type of novel but this one is definitely another series I'm looking forward to.

Fun, light-hearted take on the Grim Reaper. Charley is pretty funny, and I enjoyed the family interactions. Quick read, lots of fun.
