What I liked:
- Dragos, he was interesting and different and a credible dragon
- the beginning, the book started off really well, the plot of the theft from a dragon and the resulting danger captured me from the start
- the sex scenes, they were hot!

What was meh:
- Pia, she was annoying, a doormat and never lived up to the potential she showed in the beginning
- Pia's secret was a let-down, overhyped and in the end it proved to be nothing much
- the worldbuilding is only hinted at, I had to guess ...more

I just finished Thea Harrison's Dragon Bound, the first in a promising series she calls the Elder Races. This book is set in an alternate reality where wyrkind (all supernatural races) and humans co-exist.

Dragos Cuelebre is the biggest and baddest of the bad. He controls a huge area, is one of if not THE oldest wyr, is very much the dominant predator and this is who Pia Giovanni is being blackmailed to steal from. To paraphrase her own comments; "she is so screwed."

Dragos is incredibly furious, I just finished Thea Harrison's Dragon Bound, the first in a promising series she calls the Elder Races. This book is set in an alternate reality where wyrkind (all supernatural races) and humans co-exist.

Dragos Cuelebre is the biggest and baddest of the bad. He controls a huge area, is one of if not THE oldest wyr, is very much the dominant predator and this is who Pia Giovanni is being blackmailed to steal from. To paraphrase her own comments; "she is so screwed."

Dragos is incredibly furious, beyond human comprehension angry that someone dared break into his hoard and steal from him. He is more than prepared to begin rending the intruder limb from limb. However, when he corners the beautiful thief his thoughts of rending turn to kisses and his anger turns to lust. This dragon has found a treasure worth more than anything in his hoard, now he must devise a plan to bind the elusive beauty to him so that he can work on hoarding her heart.

Pia is terrified by the savagely gorgeous leader of the wyrkind when he runs her to ground. In fact, she expects the rending to begin any moment...but before her grisly death, she can't help but covet the finely chiseled body pinning hers. After they work-out the whole "tell me what I want to know and I won't rend you to pieces" thing, Pia decides that she just might be the only one on the planet who can teach this apex predator to coax instead of order, ask instead of demand...love instead of own.

The chemistry between Pia and Dragos leaps off the page and grabs you. I laughed out loud more than once when this extremely alpha male butted heads with his extremely modern woman. There's something to be said about a couple whose inside joke of Pia not being right in the head leads to sensational sex...perfecto!

I couldn't put Dragon Bound down, and lost half a nights sleep cavorting with this mismatched pair. Thea Harrison's premier novel has left me panting for more. I can't wait for the next installment and have put Dragon Bound firmly in my to-be-read-over-and-over pile. ...more

I absolutely loved this book. This book had it all, from being funny to a good drama to good fighting scenes, to a beautiful love story, it was amazing from start to finish. Dragos was one sexy dragon and Pia was smart and funny, I loved her. I was soooo happy to finally read a book where the heroine was not too stubborn(even for her own good!), kept pushing the hero away and running from everything and just being plain stupid!. I really enjoyed this first installment in the Elder Races series. The characters are great and the slightly different take on the supernatural creatures is good to. I liked that, though everything happened pretty quickly, I didn't feel like the romance was just ridiculous; the characters knew what they wanted and made no apologies about it. They didn't have to guess at feelings, they put themselves out there and knew where they stood. The politics are interesting and I've already started book t ...more

Hero= dangerous, sexy, smart and alpha as hell. Heroine= quirky, sarcastic, loving, and challenging. With that combo how could the book have gone anywhere but to the top of my favorites list. The story progress so naturally but with so many fun twists and turns. The loves seems to slowly blossom instead of just appearing as some of these types of stories. The ending is fun and sexy. Great book. Dragos & Pia are so good together. I liked the way she was accepted & accepted them and became part of his family. Her interactions with the guys is funny. Look forward to the next book. Good characters.

My personal schedule really made this book take longer than necessary to read, but when I got a chance really read I enjoyed it alot. I liked the characters and was surprised by the peanut. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
