This is the first in a paranormal series. Not sure if I will read the next one. I wanted to know what would happen next, but I thought the characters seemed shallowly described and I did not care too much what happened to them.

I found this book impossible to finish. it's just unreadable. It's painful.
I don't know what is worse. The dumb descriptions, or lack thereof, since the author seems to have been able to come up with some badly thought out metaphors and then repeat them all over the book. The convoluted world building. The boring villains. You choose.
But above all the ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS name of the male main character and his league of super idiotically named future MCs in what is going to pay for Mrs Ward's ...more

I hadn't read anything by J.R. Ward before this book. This book was recommended to me this month by a friend. I enjoyed this book and will read the rest of the series. It did take about 100 pages before I was really into it. The beginning was a bit slow, I think, because of the introductions and world building. While it was a HEA and a non-cliffhanger ending (at least for me), I am definetly looking forward to jumping into book 2. The Brothers are growing on me and I certainly have my favorites. ...more
