Too little, too late. That's the theme here.
I'd begun to suspect this wasn't a paranormal book when we finally had the revelation of Evernight's status as a vampire school with the popular crowd all being bloodsuckers including Bianca. Why so late with this information? What was the author trying to achieve by holding it back for so long?

To avoid any spoilers, because not knowing anything going into this book is best, I think, I will just say that I loved the story. At first I thought, "Gothic Boarding School", yeah, heard (read) that before. But, then things got interesting. Seriously unexpected turns, the story flowed so smoothly that before I knew it I'd finished the book I just picked up 3 hours ago!
Looking forward to reading Stargazer, but might hold off so there's not so much time between that and Hourglass, which doesn't ...more

When your first reaction to the last page is, "What? Wait, that's the end? Holy C%!$t, what a crappy way to end a book!", it probably does not bode well. Nevertheless, those are pretty much the exact words that went through my mind when I finished Evernight. I'm happy there are two more books because I'd like to think the story has something more to it. As a single book, the word "anti-climactic" is an understatement.
