This reivew is for the audio version only - The narration on this for Bones was so bad that I couldn't get more than 30 minutes into the book. It's a really shame as this series is a favorite of mine and I was so happy to see it available on audio. However, it was a very poor choice by someone to hire a narrator who, I'll give you does a fine job on Cat, but seems to think that Brits sound like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, completely ruining what is supposed to be a dead sexy character.

I enjoyed this book. I'll be diving into the second in the series soon. The plot wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it was a bit of fun. The main character, Cat, was not always the most sympathetic creature, but this was easily explained away by the way she was brought up. She's definitely a broken creature and I liked how she evolved over the course of the story. She still wasn't "fixed" at the end of the novel, which I also liked. As the offspring of a vampire/mortal date rape, I don't think

Evil humans, evil vampires, one very hot vampire bounty hunter, a disapproving mother and a half-breed vampire hunteress. Great stuff!
Loved it. There were many hilarious moments involving Cat's lethalness, she's a grim reaper or as Bones likes to call her the 'Red Reaper'. There were also some very sweet and passionate moments. Bones was the only one to accept Cat for who she was and what she could do, he was very patient with her. I'm starting One Foot in the Grave right now... ...more

Catherine Crawfield was born as a result of a horrifying attack on her mother. Raised in a town that regarded her mother as a liar, Cat has always been driven to fight so when her mother reveals Cat is half vampire she finds a whole new target. Now having spent years hunting the undead a chance meeting draws her into an alliance with Bones, a vampiric bounty hunter. But going after more powerful vampires comes with greater risks...and greater revelations about Cat's true nature.

The first installment of the Night Huntress series came highly recommended to me in several goodreads groups. I find that sometimes when I get hyped up about a certain book that I end up disappointed and that may have been what happened here.
I also will remain further judgement until I read more of the series, I know that the first book in a series can be a build-up and set-up for the world and can generally be the weakest of the bunch.
For now, this series seems very simple. Having myself just ...more
I am so glad I took fellow goodreads member's advice and finally read this series. It started out a bit on the 'ehh' side for me, but by the middle of book 2 it became yet another series I couldn't put down! Filled with action, suspense, a kick-butt mouthy female lead, and an inticing male lead I fell into these characters and storylines head first and can not wait until the next one. A YAY for Cat and Bones :)!!

Just finished re-reading this one. Cat is half vampire and half human. She didn't always know this. It wasn't until she was a teenager that her mother revealed that her father was a vampire who raped her. In order to please and avenge her mother Cat hunt's vampires and kills them. On one particular night, however, a vampire gets the drop on her. Because of her half nature he let's her live and she makes a deal with the devil. She agrees to help him hunt other vampires in return for helping her t

I have to put this one aside for a while. I got to a sex scene and I just can't handle anything even remotely graphic right now. Maybe in a few months.
