Once Dead, Twice Shy is the story of Madison Avery. Madison died in a car crash on prom night. Due to some technical glitches and some quick thinking on Madison's part, it was not her time to die. Madison was able to steal the dark reaper's amulet which gives the illusion that she is alive.

I would say the first 3/4's of the book is 2 stars and the last 1/4th is 3 stars. I was really thinking I wouldn't be continuing this series until almost the end, when it got interesting.
What I liked:
* The end, which is when you find out what is really going on.
* Josh. He seemed to be a fairly realistic teenage boy.
* Nakita, especially at the end of the story.
* Grace was an awesome guardian angel with a limmerick problem.

Once Dead, Twice Shy was.. disappointing. Maybe I shouldn't have such high expectations, but Kim Harrison's urban fantasy series about Rachel Morgan are one of my favourite series of all time, so I was expecting to absolutely be in love with her YA books as well.
This isn't a bad book, not at all. It was entertaining, the heroine was incredibly likeable (which is quite an achievement in a YA novel without making the protagonist seem too mature), and the plot was fast paced. I really liked Madiso ...more
