★★★★★ Wow! I wasn’t expecting a man to be narrating this story, but Robert Petkoff does an excellent job as storyteller. The prologue does start off from Lachlain’s POV, trapped in a vampire dungeon below the Paris streets, so he sets the scene – and Lachlain’s reasons for his conflicting emotions toward his mate – nicely. Though he does both voices for Lachlain and Bowen with Scottish accents, each voice was clearly distinguishable from the other.

Through all those times of searching for a good book to escape boredom, I can't ever forgive myself for setting Kresley Cole's books aside. I was skeptic at first, thinking it may be cheap imitating ideas of great authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon and J.R. Ward. But God, how wrong I was!

This is probably my least favorite and it's all related to my dislike of the heroine. The hero is great. The supporting characters and world building is AWESOME! I just couldn't love the heroine. But definitely do not let that stop you from reading this FANTASTIC series!

I admit that I read the book just to know what the fuss was all about, but I just couldn't grasp the romance between the two "lovers". It wasn't the love I was expecting to read about. I'm pretty disappointed in this one, I shouldn't have had so high expectations!

3.5/5 stars. Much better this time around reading the book compared to trying to read it last year. I think that I enjoyed the story more after getting past the initial hump and my annoyance at the hero/heroine. I will try to read some more in the series.
