It was good for a teen read. Didn't blow me out of the water. Would have loved it had the characters acted more adult.
The characters are likable. Riley is a true high point for the book. Didn't enjoy it like i've enjoyed other showalter books but I like it enough to continue to the next book without dreading it.

I don't normally read much YA but I read this one for a challenge and ended up liking it. I read Gena Showalter's other series and I found her voice similar here (although obviously without the naughty bits). I found the characters likable and really wanted Aden to succeed and find happiness. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book at first. It started somewhat slow, and there was a part where I was afraid it was going to turn into the YA, love-at-first-sight, we're fated to be together even though we're still in high school type thing. This book started off fast and furious, but then it took forever to set up where the book was going. I almost didn't finish it. I am glad I did, and I will be reading the rest of the series.
