Finally, a book that's NOT about a bunch of whinny teenagers...

The beginning of a really promising series! This is a perfect urban fantasy book, without getting too dark. And I think it covers all the basics as far as races!
There's a lot of vampire politics, rules, betrayal, bureaucracy, lovable characters, lust-worthy characters, even annoying ones, plenty of sexual tension and a good amount of humor involved in this book. Not a lot of action, but plenty of mystery and a very well written story and world building!

Probably not 5 stars, but more than 4 and we're rating generously this year :) It took me a long time to start reading this, and I kinda wish I didn't wait so long. It's a debut novel, first in series, and vampire novel in a world saturated with them, so I didn't have the highest expectations coming into it, but I will say it's a fantastically fun read. It's a good blend of action, witty dialogue, not to mention some flirting and romance. You get the world-building and history of the vampires in

One of the better paranormal series reads I have read in a while! Great humour and really loved the character development.
