While I enjoy this series, I do prefer the MT series more. Maybe it's the 1st person and as a result the ability to get into the character's head more, I do like Mercy more as a character (and Adam over Anna/Charles). I do think this series is important too, there things that happen that also effect MT. This ties both worlds together and I have a ideas of what could happen in future books. Maybe.
Charles is in charge of the pack because Bran up and decided to go on a vacation. Turns out there

I love everything Patricia Briggs writes. There are very few books that I will pre-order on Hardback to be delivered to my house the day its released, but this one I did. I savored it, like a fine wine :) The story was excellent and compelling and after reading two werewolf books back to back, I really enjoy the Mercedes Thompson universe the most. What I'm worried about though is that recently Patricia Briggs lost her husband unexpectedly and while I'm sad for her loss, I also wonder how that i ...more

I'm absolutely ecstatic that my 500th book is this one because this series is by far one of my favorites, and it feels like fate that this happened. I don't know what it is about Anna and Charles but I absolutely adore both of them. I honestly have never been sad about finishing a book so quickly and that is literally the only reason it took me so long to finish because I didn't want the adventure to end. I was actually stalling reading it when I nearly finished it in one sitting because I knew ...more

It was ok. Much more inner thoughts than action. I think I can finish this Serie with this book and have warm memories about it.

Overall I completely enjoyed this book though I do share the same complaint as many longtime fans of the series. Since I prefer to keep this spoiler free I won't elaborate but I will say while I don't agree with "the statement"it's not enough for me to pull out my pitchfork and stop reading these and the Mercy books and I hope the majority of us feel the same. ...more

Anna and Charles

The Wildlings, outlier members of the Pack that Bran keeps hidden in the mountains, are being hunted and killed. Someone has betrayed the Pack. Charles and Anna head out to check on all the Wildlings and find signs of blood magic.

I enjoyed this time spent with Charles and Anna!

Doesn't matter if this one was not quite as amazing as the others, but, bottom line, Briggs is a 5+* story crafter. ...more
