The forest had become a labyrinth of snow and ice.
Feyre is hunting to provide food for her family. Her life has been very hard since her father became disabled and lost his wealth. She has to contend with two high maintenance sisters as well. I liked this book, but it could have been better - I'm a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast retellings, and this one seemed interwoven with the Tam Lin myth, so it looked like my cup of fantasy/romance tea. HOWEVER, I wasn't a huge fan of Tam - I never felt as though he actually DID anything other than 'kidnap' Feyre. (view spoiler)

3.5 *s. So I'm having a hard time rating this. As other reviewers have stated, it did get off to a slow start. The first 100 pages or so were pretty easy to put down. I'm OK with that in a fantasy since I find a lot of them have a slow start, with all the world building. But once things got going I probably read the last 300 pages in the same amount of time as the first 100. If you like faeries; you are going to fall in love with this book! I would also recommend it for all of the push/pull slow building relationship lovers. This book is paced well, the characters are all intriguing...right down to Alis the maid! My favorite so far is Lucien. Feyre is a little weak in this book - but she is human, afterall... I think this world is centered around Tamlin, anyway. He has all of the interesting faeries in his court. There is one other unknown factor in the night court
