I'm not sure I can continue to gush about how good this series is without repeating myself and becoming very boring. I haven't even finished reading the whole series and already I want to go back to the beginning to start all over again. In this, the 5th book, Kate is facing the destruction of everything magic. In a rare show of solidarity, every magical faction comes together to try and overcome the problem but, of course, it is Kate with her utter awesomeness who takes centre stage.

Magic Slays on Books On Track
Update - Re-read: 31 Aug 2018:
I'd almost completely forgotten this one but that made me enjoy it that much more!
Kate's new business isn't exactly keeping her busy, until her first job uncovers (view spoiler) ...more
You should just give up on this detective shit and start killing people for a living. It’s simple, honest work, and you ain’t got the brains for anything else.
I took a hiatus of about two months after I binge-read about 15 Kate Daniels' stories in a row back in December. When I started this book yesterday, it was as if I had never left from the strange yet eerily familiar world created by the Ilona Andrews team. Kate and the characters that surround her, as strange and wondrous as their unique w ...more

It's hard for me to review this series because it is my favorite and I love it with the passion of a fan girl. While I enjoyed this book, the previous two are still my favorites.
I liked Kate's interactions with pretty much everyone, but I really enjoyed seeing her with Andrea. They are hilarious. The growth and development in Kate's personal relationships was definitely there; Kate and Curran have one of the most mature relationships in UF.

Finally! A book that understands the usage and dangers of tourniquets and that they're an absolute last resort.
There's a scene when her ward Julie gets to the office and a young upstart challenges and puts moves on her that is laugh out loud funny. It is that women are equally powerful and dangerous if they are trained in how to use their own strengths that is one of the things I love most about this series.

Magic Slays
Or what I think it should be called: Return of Kate.
I started reading last night before going to bed. I thought I'd read a little bit and then get a good night's sleep before Friday the 13th.
When am I going to learn?
Another great installment in the Kate Daniels series. Andrea's back and working with Kate. That seemed inevitable granted she came back at all. Kate seems like the type that wouldn't turn a friend away. Not after all the shit they've seen together. Ted being one of them. ...more

Really good. I always enjoy this series, Kate is a lot of fun, and Curran is good too. I like that we are seeing Kates magic develop, and I am intrigued by her interactions with the dead, though I wasn't really a fan of the "doomsday box" story itself. Will be interesting to see how Julie's story takes shape.
