As always, Laini Taylor has knocked another one out of the park! In the course of reading this book I've experienced exultation and happiness and frustration and dismay. As Karou and Akiva work on their respective sides to end the war between their peoples they grapple with their continuing feelings for each other. I had a love hate relationship with this book. It was fantastic, epic, amazing. But it was also aggravating. I loved this book, and it has to be a favorite of mine. But I hated the way Akiva and Karou were apart and couldn't get it through their thick skulls that they love each other. But I understand why it was written that way and I even liked that it was that way too. Loved it even more the second time, especially since I don't have to wait at all to read the third book! amazing character development.
This was one of the amazing middle of the trilogy books that is just as good as the original and takes the series and the characters in unexpected directions, while staying completely consistent. Love this book, love the characters. ...more
