Oh sure, just rip my heart out, Laini Taylor.
More than 5 stars. Laini Taylor has outdone herself, creating a new cast of characters to love and hate. Two stories that intersect, filled with surprises I couldn't anticipate and always infused with her beautiful writing and incredible imagination -- not to mention her sense of romance is still intact! 2018 Printz honor, my committee year!
Printz Honor 2/12/18. And, ugh, it has a cliffhanger ending. WHY give an honor award to a book that's a first in a series, with a cliffhanger ending??? I don't think I'll read this one for awhile.

I loved the world built here. I loved the characters, both on the ground and in the air. I loved the atmosphere, and the myth, and the power of her storytelling. I gushed about this book every chance I got, and I loved every page.

Beautiful and inventive, I cannot argue with any of the praise this book has received. I did however feel a bit exhausted by the back third, where the end just would not appear.
I didn't think I would love it as much as I loved the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series.... But I do.
