Pros: Kathleen Winsor paints an incredibly vivid picture of Restoration England. I felt I could step into the setting, from the filthy cells of Newgate prison to the glittering court of Charles II at Whitehall.
Cons: Nearly every character is extremely unlikeable. This is especially apparent with Amber St. Clair, who is a stupid, vain, selfish brat. In her ambition to rise in the world and gain the affections of Lord Bruce Carlton she is nearly sociopathic.
