This is my favorite book. Amazing. When I started reading it,I didn't have a clue what it was about. It is frightening how something written in 1948 for a future 1984 became a reality for many Eastern Europian countries. And what makes it even more frightening is how you can see parts of it even in today's society.

I originally read this at some point in my high school career. I'd rather not say exactly how long ago it was....but when re-reading it there were many parts I had forgotten. I don't remember being as disturbed about it in high school as I was this second time around. I think that is due to my age, to having a family and to understanding a bit more about how the world works, and how frightening society could actually be.
