I really had to take my time with this book. It was one of those ones where you can only take so much before you have to put it down and move on to something a little less heavy.

A great story. This book takes places during prohibition and follows the lives of circus workers.
Full of romance and drama this book sucks you in. This is a book that is hard to put down.

Loved the story! It was very captivating and kept me listening and enthralled. Looking forward to the movie I hope it is close to the book! It was really delightful!

I must say that I was kind of skeptical about this book. I must admit I was always a fan of clowns, but the whole carny lifestyle always seems so down right dirty and I just didn't know if I would enjoy reading about such. The book definitely followed my ideas about such, but Gruen ways of telling the story made it very addicting and fun to read.
