I have to admit, I read this book because I saw the movie. And also because I've read a lot of fairy tale blogs that see the movie as an abomination. So, I liked the movie, and wanted to see how the book was different, and if it was better.
As it turns out, it is worlds better than the movie. The characters of both Ella and Char are not only more developed but far more interesting. The father likewise - he's not mean, but he's not nice either, as he's motivated mainly by money. And even though tr ...more

Great Cinderella themed story. It was great to have watched the movie before reading the book because I would've been extremely disappointing if it was the other way around. There is so much more to this book and I loved in internal struggles of Ella. I also read "Fairest" before reading this book it was great to read about the kingdom of Ayortha. This was a good connection between both the books. Really cute story. I enjoyed it a lot.
