I really need to find a new copy of this book. My old one is falling apart.
I've heard somewhere that the secret to writing is in being able to tell the same story more than once, just in a different way. This book is a prime example. You don't even realize this is supposed to be based on "Cinderella" until the second half. Gail Carson Levine put her own spin on it, and it works! Ella Enchanted is probably one of my favorite books of all time. It's based off of a classic fairy tail and than spun into a beautiful story by spinning master Gail Carson Levine. Ella is spunky, charming, and definitely not a damsel in distress. The villains are evil and give the story an even greater depth.
