Without doubt my favourite Neil Gaiman book. It is a story that lives with you, that you keep thinking about even when not reading, that you don't want to leave once you have finished.

This book is filled with memorable characters and scenes, some scary, some wonderful, but I can't give it five stars because I felt the ending didn't do justice to the story. I wanted to know more about Lettie. I wanted her to come back. The book seems incomplete with George returning to his childhood home and not meeting Lettie again.

I'm not sure that I can say enough about this little book. First and foremost it is a Neil Gaiman story. That makes it a story with unanswered questions...with characters cut from different cloths...it is, at the same time, a story of childhood with fears and darkness and trauma and an adult story with adult problems difficult to solve. I will read this one again.
