I would give this book 4.5 stars. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because of the ending. I cannot describe the raw emotion and sick feeling the ending left me with. That was not what I wanted for Mac.

I am sooo grateful that I waited until at least 5 books in this series came out because if I had had to wait for Dreamfever after reading this book - I would have done so sitting next to Karen Marie Moning as she wrote it!

Really.

My only gripe - and it's not with the book itself - is that I wish people were more considerate when it came to posting their status updates or reviews because you have no idea how bad it sucks when someone ruins - unintentionally, I'm What a way to end a book!!! Wow!!! My only gripe - and it's not with the book itself - is that I wish people were more considerate when it came to posting their status updates or reviews because you have no idea how bad it sucks when someone ruins - unintentionally, I'm sure - the plot or ending of a book or movie by sharing a spoiler with you. I know how easy it is to get caught up in a story and want to share its going ons with others but use a little discretion. An "OMG! NOOOO!" would have sufficed as opposed to the "OMG! THE UNSEELIE PRINCES RAPE MAC!" that hit me in the face as I was looking at my updates. And I was merely on Book Two at this point. I actually stopped reading a series because a friend of mine ruined it for me by sharing a spoiler. The same feeling of amazement or awe or shock that you got reading or watching it - don't take that away from someone else. Just something to consider.

On to the story -

Mac is definitely coming more and more into her own. She's a very likeable heroine to me and I say this because another great series that's a fav of mine ("Night Huntress" series) - I merely tolerate the heroine for the hero's sake. I just wish she would wake up and see the clues that are staring her dead in her face when it comes to finding out the identity of Jericho Barrons. I am 99.9% positive I know who and/or what he is - and if I'm wrong, may he come and spank me. Spank me gooood.

Jerricho. Jerricho. Jerricho. It's official, folks. I am undeniably, irrevocably, irreversibly, head over heels in love with this...guy. As I pondered why that might be so - I came to the conclusion that Jerricho Barrons is a lot like that guy that many of us have encountered - whether we choose to admit it or not. The "mistake" you regret yet at one time he consumed your ever-waking moment. You know the one I'm talking about. Family and friends tell you he's no good for you, you'll only end up getting hurt. But there's something so darkly fascinating about him. He might even pull your hair or knock you around a bit but he makes up for it with sweet notes and gifts. You know he's so wrong for you but at times it feels so right. And even though he claims to be with you, you feel as though you spend most of your time in the "relationship" trying to get him to notice you. See you. Oh don't get all PC on me! It happens and if most of us were honest with self and others, we'd admit we've either had a "Barrons" in our lives or know someone that did. Of course those guys were jerks and that's why we've moved on but Jerricho Barrons is all of that plus all the utterly romantic and endearing qualities we all hope to find in our "dark knights". If I didn't already know who he was - I'd swear he was a death by sex Fae operating through the pages of the book because every time I read about him I'm squirming in my seat.

V'Lane is becoming more endearing to me with the way he tries to woo Mac with trips to the beach and to the spa for a day of pampering and all that jazz. Sweet. But I prefer my men dark.

All in all another AMAZING book in an AMAZING series!

On to the next one....

Each book in the series gets better and better. I tried to stop reading sooner because I knew of the cliffhanger endings but I read this in one day! I have a few theories on Barron's after this one but still not 100% sure. I wish that him and mac would just admit their feelings for each other. Barron's is one of the best male heros written in my opinion! I wish that there weren't only two more books left in this series. Geeze. I don’t know how to describe this book. Dark and dangerous comes to mind. Romance? That is eerily absent… again. I am really surprised that this series (thus far) is being sold in the Romance section and not the Fiction section (for it seems more like urban fantasy tome). Love scenes? One at the end. And NOT at all what you think. I will attempt a very brief summary (in which huge spoiler details will be given away). Even with lacking the romance did I still enj Book 3 in the Fever series.

And NOT at all what you think. I will attempt a very brief summary (in which huge spoiler details will be given away). Even with lacking the romance did I still enjoy this book? Heck yeah!! This series is unlike anything I have ever read. EVER. It is unpredictable and always changing- which really keeps you on your toes. This series is dark, but I do love the hilarious one-liners and the short funny scenes that Ms. Moning writes. I mean the MacHalo scene had me LOL more than any other book has ever done. Yep, I scared my co-workers (fortunately most of them has read the series and understands!). He can be a donkey’s hind end a lot… but I do love him too.

Summary:
Inspector Jayne is figuring out that things are not quite right and harasses Mac. Mac ends up feeding him Unseelie so that he can see the true murderers and tries to tell him useful things that will keep him and his family alive. In exchange Jayne tells Mac about the really gruesome murders that take place (Mac has figured out that that is where the Sinsar Dub is changing hands- there is almost a black fearsome creature that emerges from the book and takes hold of another person- it keeps changing hands). Barrons is still dragging Mac around to locate the Book, and he is teaching her how to resist Voice (what the Lord Master used on Mac at the end of Bloodfever to get her to obey). Mac is trying to find out as much information as she can from anyone she can: Barrons, V’lane, and Dani (another sidhe-seer who is part of the organization that Rowena runs- but they are friends). She doesn’t befriend many of the other sidhe-seers because six of them attack Mac in the bookstore in order to steal her spear and one accidently impaled herself of the spear and she died. Barrons finally gets close to the book and realizes that he cannot touch it without being corrupted by the evil that it is. Mac learns some useful information: Seelie cannot touch the Unseelie Hallows and visa versa, nor can they touch each other. She figures out that Barrons is not Unseelie because he can touch the spear. Barrons can also use the Silvers to travel… wherever it is he travels to. We still do not know what Barrons is, but there is some definite lust going on between Barrons and Mac (lust, not romance). Mac learns that if the ritual to fortify the Fae walls doesn’t work on Halloween then all the walls between Fae and Man will come down. She enlists Barrons help to help the MacKeltars with the ritual in Scotland. Mac plans on going to the Abby where the other sidhe-seers are to aid them with whatever they can do with the Orb that Mac gave them (which she got from Barrons, they thought that having it would strengthen the walls). Mac is unable to get to the Abby because of massive human rioting and darkness everywhere. The Unseelie are driving the crowds into the darkness to be killed by the Shades. Fortunately for Mac she has the MacHalo, and keeps herself illuminated. She holes up at the top of a church and just watches Dublin be devastated. Mac feels when the walls of Fae come down. She sees the Unseelie Four Horseman arrive: Famine, Petulance, War, and Death. Three of them (not War) come to her (they are death-by-sex Faes) and all three of them rape her. Then the Lord Master arrives and states that she will obey him now. The Lord Master’s real name is Darroc and he was once Seelie. He was stripped to his immortality and banished to the human realm by the Seelie court (with his memories intact). The book ends… HUGE cliff-hanger.

I’m going to TRY my hardest not to read the fourth book until it’s closer to the time that the fifth and final book is published. I think it’s going to be the hardest thing I have ever done…

I really enjoyed the first two books in the Fever series, I couldn't wait to get the next one but had to pace myself due to University obligations coming first.

Wow! That's all I could think when I finally finished FaeFever. I closed the book and had to go and make several cups of tea before I could really think about what I'd read. FaeFever continues on with Mac's journey, which I really enjoyed. The first half of the book I found rather slow and kept wishing it would pick up speed and have more action and adventure to it other than just Mac's thoughts and feelings on everything so far, it felt a little like BloodFever with all the back story and not really moving any where for a while. But eventually it all picked up! The usual character's V'lane and Barrons made their appearances and the reader starts to get small amounts of information on Barrons and more on V'lane which was nice and annoying, because you just want more! We meet more Sidhe-seers, there's more Christian MacKeltar and Mac time, (I really wanted Mac to get with him even if it was only briefly!) As FaeFever goes on you do feel for Mac, in a strange place, dealing with some much, she never seems to get a break and is always being pulled in different directions not really knowing who to trust and partner up with. If it wasn't for the second half of Faefever I wouldn't have given the book 5 stars it would have got 4 or even 3 but the second half more than makes up for the uneventful first half.

The book cover's ok it's pretty simple and I like that but it's not really eye catching and drawing you in, which I think it should be because it's a great series!

Overall FaeFever still leaves the reader with a million thoughts and questions buzzing around but it does move the story forward some what and I thoroughly enjoyed it and if you haven't read this series yet, do so! ...more

"Faefever" is the "Empire Strikes Back" of this Fever series. The plot is deceptively simple. Her characters are pronounced and distinctive. I've always enjoyed Moning's sense of wit and humor. You cheer Mac on when she's kicking Unseelie butt, and yell when someone is coming up behind her.
At first I thought this series was meant to be a romance. But, slowly the hero morphs into any of, by my count, three men. There is more of a feeling that Mac must be her own savior, and that of the world.
