In Bloodfever, the second installment in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, our heroine Mac discovers there's a little bit more to being a sidhe-seer then just being a person with the ability to see the beautiful and horrible otherworldly beings who are invading our realm once again. (Fae creatures far more fierce than the little winged pixie's most people think of when picturing faeries.)

*Breathes sigh of relief*
Bloodfever was a far more enjoyable read than its predecessor Darkfever, solely because Mac was far more palatable. Her transformation from shallow Barbie to take-no-bull combatant with substance is well on the way. Dare I say I even liked her at times in this one?
The story of the looming battle between the Fae and mortals, which saved Darkfever, continues to be intriguing, and because of Mac’s growth it was not told in as grating a voice, and there were less irritating ...more

As the second book of an UF series, this is when the weird becomes the norm (so the heroine no longer pretends that she's hallucinating) and the real action begins. Basically, this is when we really find out whether the series is worth reading or not. My verdict was...Definitely worth reading. In fact, I might go as far as to say, I loved it and will recommend it to everyone I know, without shame.

As the saga progresses on in "Bloodfever", we join Mac as she is reeling from the fact that both her and her sister, Alina, are adopted. As she asks herself the questions "who am I?", "where did I come from?" and, the ulimate, "who are my parents?", Mac is very insecure as to what kind of meaning her life really has. As the story continues, she is also adjusting to her sidhe-seer powers, and learning who she can trust and who she cannot. In the first book of the series, we meet Jericho Barrons,

Absolutely loved it! It just gets better and better!
I've never wanted to know so much about a character, and Jericho Barrons is getting to me! The anticipation... I'm dying to know more about him! He is a jerk, but sometimes, the little things he does just gets to me. He's definitely growing on me.
And V'lane...that Fae Prince appears so little in the book, but every time he does, he makes it unforgettable. V'lane is definitely on the top of my list right now.

Another slow starter for me - I think there's just so much going on that each book takes a while to chug towards the finale, but when it does, holy cow. The last 100 pages or so of this book were startling, intense, and totally surprising. I did not see ANY of it coming and it left me a bit breathless.

I liked this one more than I liked the first one. I think it had to do with all of the action and adventure on the last half of the book. Of course, Mac still talked too much and got on my nerves, but I still loved her. She's definitely growing stronger. Barrons... sigh Barrons is still Barrons. Like I said, the last half of the book is a whirlwind of action that I didn't see coming.
