I enjoyed this book to a point, it almost reads as a Y/A almost. It just teeters on the edge of it in my opinion. I like Barrons and Mac together even if at time I want to smack both of them. Him for not bbeing a little more forthcoming about himself and her for walking blatantly around and getting into trouble. I will continue the series because I have to find out what happens. It does need more action in it as a fellow G/R friend put it. (Hi Cindyg) ;)

WOW. Just… wow… I am speechless. This book is amazing. Now I have to immediately read the next one, even though that wasn’t my plan. Although, I am again disappointed that there were no love scenes, I am sure (and I have heard) that it definitely builds towards that. I just don’t know how much longer I can wait! It is not typical for a romance novel to not have one.

If you haven’t read Darkfever then my summary isn’t going to make any sense.

Mac is in constant trouble. No surprise there. However, she is pushed to the limits in this book, mentally, emotionally, and physically. She gets a surprise visit from her dad. Fiona, Barron’s employee tried to kill Mac (she gets fired for this and Mac takes over running the store for a source of income). She is interrogated by Dublin police for the murder of O’Duffy. She finally meets Rowena (the old silver haired lady that didn’t help her twice in Darkfever), she seems to run an organized sidhe-seer group. Of course Rowena wants Mac to join. However, Mac is more skeptical than ever of whom to trust and not trust. Right now she doesn’t trust anyone. She only knows that both Barrons and V’lane have tried to save her and want her alive. Rowena failed her, twice. Mac spends six hours in Fae (a little with V’lane), but mostly with an illusion of Alina that V’lane creates for her- it helps her say goodbye in a way.

Mac passes out again when she is near the Sinsar Dubh. Mac and Barrons locate another OOP (an amulet). They aren’t able to obtain it. Malluce has it. He’s not dead- not completely at least. He kidnaps Mac and tortures her for 27 hours. As she is dying Barrons finally finds her, she eats Unseelie flesh which temporarily makes her super strong and heals her (Barrons and Mac almost have sex shortly after this while trying to kill Malluce and get the Spear back and hopefully take the amulet). Mac tries, but Barrons ends up finally killing Malluce. The Lord Master comes and takes the amulet from Mac. However, he lets them go. Barrons was able to locate Mac because he tattooed a “homing beckon” of some sort to the back of her neck after he saved her from the Dark Zone at the end of Darkfever. This book ends on a huge cliff-hanger as Mac is heading to meet Christian who works at Trinity and knew Alina when she senses the Sinsar Dubh.

I love the fact that Mac is becoming more physical and ruthless. I am ready for her to start getting some answers from Barrons and V’lane though. It is frustrating that we don’t know that much more than we did in the first book. I couldn’t put this book down, and I doubt I’ll be able to do the same with the others.

I was apprehensive about reading BloodFever as I thought it wouldn't measure up to the first book DarkFever and I was spot on. Julie from Yummy Men and Kiss Ass Chicks sums up the point of BloodFever beautifully "It is your typical second book in an Urban Fantasy series. Book one usually sets up the world and its players. This was so good that I accidently bought a copy of Faefever (Book 3), when I ALREADY had a library copy on my IPOD. I frantically searched for my library copy, couldn't find it, bought an Audible.com copy...then found the library copy. And I don't even care because that's how addictive this series becomes after you get through the setup book (Darkfever). ...more

Although I'm enjoying these books, I really do not identify with the protagonist.
Also the writing style that seems more stream of consciousness leaves me a bit irritated.
But again not enough to not keep reading. Very enjoyable read, fluffy sexless fun.
