The basic idea is good enough, but the author didn't have enough faith in the concept to play it straight. Instead delivering a barrage of juvenile humor that gave me one solitary chuckle.

This is an enjoyable read, with a few minor flaws. Overall, it's a very fun, fast-paced story that doesn't get bogged down and keeps the reader entertained. I noticed a few, minor typos (then vs. than is the one I remember off-hand), but not nearly as many as other books in this genre have.
Later books in the series break out the plot armor a bit too much IMO, but they're all still fun and entertaining.
