The basic idea is good enough, but the author didn't have enough faith in the concept to play it straight. Instead delivering a barrage of juvenile humor that gave me one solitary chuckle.

Just the jokes about ranch dressing alone would have been enough to kill all enjoyment, but since there was MORE ...

I quite enjoy this one. It didn’t have the most enthralling characters or plot but the progression and world that Thorne created is fascinating. It reads very fast, almost too fast sometimes, and is definitely more tell than show but quite entertaining.

This book seemed to have no real plot line. The main character was way overpowered. There was no sense of excitement and anticipation or anything else.

This is an enjoyable read, with a few minor flaws. Overall, it's a very fun, fast-paced story that doesn't get bogged down and keeps the reader entertained. I noticed a few, minor typos (then vs. than is the one I remember off-hand), but not nearly as many as other books in this genre have.

Later books in the series break out the plot armor a bit too much IMO, but they're all still fun and entertaining.
