After a few pages I was wondering why is itis written so simple. Not my thing because I think the story will be crap.

Ik heb gisteravond even Nooit Alleen (Loes den Hollander - Maand van het Spannende Boek gelezen), maar dat was echt verschrikkelijk. Ik denk dat ik nooit eerder zoiets slechts heb gelezen. Ik weet niet precies wat dit boek (slecht plot (welk plot?!), slechte personages, slechte schrijfstijl) nou zoveel erger maakte voor dan andere slechte boeken, maar ik vond het verschrikkelijk. This was a giveaway last year, in june, the Dutch ‘month of the exciting book’. The genre label is ‘literary thriller’. The title ‘Never alone’. It is about a young couple, the wife is told by her schizofrenic neighbour that the husband is adulterous. The neighbour has a tendency to violence, of course.
Well, the novella never gets thrilling, it never gets literary, the plot is on the weak side, hence my reading pleasure never, on the whole, got further than two stars worth. JM
