Dit is het boekenweekgeschenk van 1964, een boek van Robert van Gulik over de Chinese rechter Tie. Een aap brengt hem s ‘ morgens een ring. Er zit wat bloed aan. Er wordt een lijk gevonden, waaraan vier vingers missen. Rechter Tie hoort getuigen en komt op het juiste spoor. Uiteindelijk wordt de dader ontmaskerd en wordt het misdrijf opgelost. Formerly completely unknown to me, this Robert van Gulik. He appears to be not only a Dutch diplomat, but parallel to this career was the author of many books in the detective genre, with as main protagonist the Chinese judge Tie, as he is called in the Dutch translation by the author from his original English, where the main character is called judge Dee. The English title of ‘Vier vingers’ is ‘The morning of the monkee’.
