Wat een prachtige roman!
De structuur van de roman is helder: twee vrouwen, kurend in Spa, ontmoeten elkaar. Anna herkent in de ander haar tweelingzuster Lotte. Zij hebben elkaar zeer lang gezien noch gesproken. Daarom hebben hebben zij veel aan elkaar te vertellen. Zij komen afwisselend aan het woord en – tamelijk filmisch – gaan de uitlatingen in Spa over in de geschiedenisscene van toen.

The book is enjoyable and historically correct(in general). It is not great literature though...

It tells a nice story, with interesting characters and asks a few pertinent questions.
The story of twins who got seperated as young children and who meet at an older age gives an interesting starting point. One of the twins stayed in Germany and lived there during the war, finding herself at the losing side afterwards. The other twin was raised in the Netherlands and helped with hiding jews, still hat

Twee zussen ontmoeten elkaar in een turfveenbad in spa. Net iets te toevallig mijns inziens. Vanaf hun 6e groeide de zussen afgescheiden van elkaar op, de een in Duitsland, de ander in Nederland. Al slenterend van restaurant naar cafe en andersom vertellen ze elkaar over hun leven. De verhalen over hun jeugd volgen in chronologische volgorde en gaan over in tijden van WOII. I've read this book for school, and I loved it. The switching perspective from Anna to Lotte and back makes the story interesting to read. The flashbacks are heartbreaking and made me relive the moments with the two sisters. This book is very well written.
