One of those classics that are so much a part of the culture that it feels like you have read them, even when you have not. The story concerns a group of British schoolboys who find themselves stranded on a deserted island and the various trials and travails that they go through. Essential to the plot are Ralph (the stoic good guy democratic leader), Jack (the viscous totalitarian hunter) and Piggy (the logical and intelligent boy not blessed with much physical strength and ability). I think I'm on a revisiting my youth binge today! Again, this is a book I had to read for a lit. class. I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I won't say I "enjoyed" it, because really, is this the subject-matter that one enjoys, per se? Not really...

I revisited it again last year and was happy to know it stood the test of time in my semi-literary brain. I liked it the second time around even more than the first...call it an adult perspective, if you will.

Enjoyed reading this, but I didn't care so much about the themes. It didn't speak to me. I can't believe they turned it into a kids TV show =0!
