This is a book that I've heard and read about for a very long time but had never got around to reading it. It's filled with historical narrative and reminiscences of a fictional, but somewhat realistic town in Minnesota. The book is filled with subtle, dry humor and I think that you have to savor the caustic wit in small doses or you will lose the effect of the satire.
