I read this book for a book-club and while I appreciated the story and thought it was well-written, I couldn't say that I truly liked it. It was a difficult story to read, both in content and format. The tale is interesting, but often heart-breaking and I found myself in tears more than once. I found that I had to put the book down several times and if not for the book club, it would have taken me much longer to read it. This book has a great description of chinese foot binding and chinese men/women relationships. It is a great story about two girls who grow up in different cities and live very different lives but still share so much of one another.
