This is a creepy, but engaging story that takes the reader into the English countryside in the mid-1800s. After Molly and Kip flee Ireland during the Great Potato Famine, they end up at an old manor on an island. The story is more suspenseful and unsettling than it is scary, and I loved the ending.

This book was recommended to us by our local children's librarian and we decided to include it for our October "Scary Stories" discussion at our girls' book club.

A nice and creepy tale for tweens. Not quite as transcendant as some reviewers would have us believe, but as an adult I still found it to be creepy and fun. Recommended.
