Shelves: paranormal, witches, ya, werewolves, vampires

An interesting take on vampires, witches and werewolves, with a depth of storytelling that comes as a pleasant surprise. I loved the way the story unfolded, revealing a little at a time while keeping the action flowing. I also enjoyed the way Rodelle's character grew, developing into a more complex individual as the story progressed. It will be interesting to see how the story develops in book 2. Highly recommended for YA readers! ...more

This was a terrific story and I really enjoyed it! The story presented a different take on the usual fantasy creatures and I found it to be very imaginative and exciting! I like stories with budding romances in them also, so I was really happy with the relationship that developed throughout the book (no spoilers)! If there is to be a sequel, I will definitely read it as I would love to hear more of this story! A recommended read!

I really, really liked this story. I liked the writing style (it's the kind that sucks me in) and I loved the relationship between Dreven and Rodelle *sigh* I loved the idea of the Soul Stone, and it broke my heart to know he was cursed to guard her grave and he could see when she was there and when she was not, and still they could not be together! At the centre of Hartman House is a love story between Rodelle, a witch, and Dreven, a vampire. At first I thought the love story was going to be predictable but the author threw in a twist and brought in some history which explained the connection between the two main characters and made it interesting.
