Wow! I really enjoyed this one. Loved the author's style and the voice of the main character. One of the best First Contact encounters I've ever read. I had to go back and read the last couple of chapters again the next day just to soak it all in. ...more

I hadn't read any synopses about this book before reading it, so I came at it with a clean slate. At first it just felt like The Martian in a different setting. The main character has kind of the same go-get-'em sarcastic personality. But then things happen. The story becomes its own. Would it be wrong to say the book is sweet? Project Hail Mary was one of the best SF books I've read in a long time! Author Andy Weir puts the science aspect front & center and uses it to drive the plot with extraordinary skill! Well written, accessible prose, compelling characters, and a looming threat to all life on Earth make the whole book an enjoyable read.
