You know what was my biggest issue with this book?
My own expectations. Time and time again I've learned that I need to seriously temper my expectations of a book before going into it, because many times, the way you perceive a book can spoil it before you even start. Wow. This was intense! I loved so much about it I don't even know how to put it into words. The magic of the book sucked me right in, all the way, to the core. The writing is beyond charming. It's rich and delightful and deep. The premise is pretty insane and in lesser hands would have made a poor book indeed, but the writing carries this book beginning to end like all the best books do.

I feel like I should've loved this way more than I did and I don't totally know why... the story was really interesting and I always enjoy a good horse story, but for some reason Puck and Sean felt a little flat. I felt this way about Shiver too and I'm starting to think I'm just not a big fan of Maggie Stiefvater. Good writer, but she always leaves me feeling just the tiniest bit bored.
