So I go and pick up this book, I'm pumped. So very excited to be getting back to Sookie and Eric ( wipes drool off my chin). So picture if you will, I have the bottle of red open. I am all cozy and set to read. I stop and go "hmmm". Shake it off as the normal okay we are at the start of the book lets recap for those who might not remember.

So I take some more sips and continue on. Stopping yet again, I go "hmm, um, yeah". We are hitting somewhere past the 100 mark and I'm getting a little worrie ...more

I love this book, especially since I felt unsatisfied with its predecessor.

I don't know if it's me, but Sookie is getting more real to her readers notably when she is thinking. I myself (and I know some women) would do the same pondering, having our own considerations and internal debates over intricate and onerous ordeal we have to face in our lives in this crazy, crazy world.

Sookie, obviously, was in a lot more peculiar situation with all the supernatural beings roaming around her. I applaud I love this book, especially since I felt unsatisfied with its predecessor.

I myself (and I know some women) would do the same pondering, having our own considerations and internal debates over intricate and onerous ordeal we have to face in our lives in this crazy, crazy world.

Sookie, obviously, was in a lot more peculiar situation with all the supernatural beings roaming around her. I applaud Harris for bringing to live such a strong woman. If I were Sookie, it was not impossible that I'd already been admitted to a mental institution because I couldn't cope with all the vampires, werewolves, shifters, fairies, elves, witches et cetera et cetera coming over to make my life become er 'colorful', or worse, determined to kill me in cold blood (of course inimaginable tortures came with the package).

This book, I think, showed a development of Sookie as a woman. She might not be your ideal heroine, but she still rocks. Courage and calmness, those are her strongest suits and both had served her well. Her relationship with Eric, as what I'm afraid of before, have its ups and downs. Politics oh politics. Not to mention, the old but not rusty concern for all mortals getting involved with immortals = until how long? will he still love me when I'm getting old and grey? But hey, is it not also the concern of many women in general haha!

All the characters around Sookie were fascinating and Harris weaved their stories, even if short, very well. I love the new development regarding Pam. It got me teary eyed. I love Sookie's friendship with Amelia - it's so real! Even best friends could give you hard times and you have to stand up for yourself. I love how Sookie and Bill (can't believe I'm saying this) still retain their friendship. Bill was such a sweetheart sometimes, it's hard not to like him, even if he broke Sookie's heart. The scene of Sookie and Bill in Bill's house was fricking hilarious (everytime Sookie said "Irrelevant!" I LOLed) Moreover, I love Sookie's dynamics with her fairy kins, Claude and Dermot. Goddamn faes and their nerves. I love also the fact that there were thing explained in this book. We are given more knowledge on Sookie's background and family history, which was quite illustrious. A lesson learned: Some people you know may know you far much better than you think (or know about them).

How about the action scenes? Harris still delivers. The last battle scene was so vivid I could almost see it in my mind. Well, with less blood obviously. But I trust HBO and the producers of True Blood could do justice when they're filming the nth season.

Dear Charlaine Harris, are you sure this series will be over in the next two books? I hope your contract is renewed again, because I love having adventures in Bon Temps :)

Shelves: read-2011

I'm hanging out on my couch, reading this on my phone so I wasn't paying attention to how far into the book I was. I look down and discover I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book. What's the point of me telling you this? In all those pages, NOTHING happened. I couldn't believe the book was almost over and there weren't really any events of interest that occurred. Well, maybe talking about her yahoo palace was...interesting?

This one seemed a little uneven to me. Impossible to say what happens, of course, but it seems Sookie loves Eric and he loves her. There are kinks in the works, though. There were scenes that totally cracked me up, and make me glad all over again that it's not the TV series. One scene I roared out loud and couldn't stop laughing. My dogs thought I'd gone nuts. And it was Pam and her deadpan sarcasm that did it. Too funny.

Sigh. I suppose it will be another year before we get another one. ...more
