With a wonderful close-knit family to "structure" this story, this series gets off to a perfect start. The characters are fun-loving and look out for each other with humor and a passion for life. Knowing the sorrow they have in their past means they appreciate the gift of life – not being willing to waste precious time together, which is special. There is much that could be praised about this book. If all that weren’t enough to excite you to try Melissa’s novels, let me just say, the interaction

I love picking up a book that takes me along for the ride. One that's comfortable, meaningful, exciting, and sweet. From The Start is that type of book.
I found I could really relate to Kate Walker and her desire to have her writing be filled with substance. Her quirks, and the quirks of her family, were endearing and she was easy to emotionally connect with.
Colton Greene is everything I like in a hero. Handsome, caring, talented, and a hard worker. The fact that he's got things to work through ...more

Since Melissa Tagg gave us a sneak peek of this new series a few weeks ago with the release of her novella, Three Little Words, I was eager to return to the fictional town of Maple Valley, Iowa and the cast of characters she'd brought to life. From the Start is both entertaining and thought-provoking.There's laugh-out-loud moments which are trademark Melissa Tagg, as well as grittier events that add depth and emotion to the plot and draw the reader into the story. I appreciate that Colton and Ka

Kate Walker writes romance movies—not exactly her life ambition, but it pays the bills. At least, it used to, while her scripts were selling. She has a new opportunity: to take a short-term trip to Africa to cover projects managed by the charity her late mother set up, but a tornado in her home town changes her plans. It also introduces her to her brother’s college friend and ex-professional football player Colton Greene … who just happens to be looking for a writer to co-write his memoir. But K

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
This delightful inspirational contemporary romance contains likable characters, humor, and heartfelt moments. Kate Walker is tired of writing romance movies and wants to write something more meaningful. Colton Greene is forced to retire from the NFL because of injury and wants to continue his career by staying in the spotlight. Kate and Colton are at a crossroads in their careers and they come together when a tornado ravages Kate's h ...more

As soon as I saw that this book contained football stuff (everyone knows how much I love the sport), I requested it. Even better that I loved Colton, and I loved 'Rosie'. Both people with difficult pasts, and they haven't really realized that that might be the reason they're hanging back from the joys of life. Like being in love. With each other.
Their first meeting had me snickering, and the moment in the bathroom (all good things, all good things), had me howling. The second embarrassment was ...more
