What a surprise! A fantasy novel that I quite enjoyed. I listened to an audible version, narrated by Sean Barrett, who was easy on the ear. He was able to differentiate the characters very well. There were great holes in the story, it was quite unbelievable (but then I find fantasy difficult to believe anytime) and the fight scenes were hard to visualise - but that could quite conceivably be my lack of imagination rather than a fault of the author!
Not my normal reading but a highly enjoyable tale of war, heroism, love, and bravery in the fantasy tradition. Would definitely consider reading more of his novels for tomes when a light but sustaining book is required.
Super classic fantasy where the man are brave and the women are pretty.
