Feisty American Lillian is not going to ever bow down to English societies rules. This is the 4th time I read this book.
I have the original edition copy and I have to say, it's one of my favorites. I buddy-read it with a friend who has a newer edition and she hated it. She didn't understand most of the things and motives for which Lillian and Marcus fought. I firmly believe that publishing companies shouldn't edit books because they don't fit today's society. They should come with warning labels or trigger warnings like every other book being published.
