A fun little read and nice antithesis to gritty urban fantasy to balance out the reading palate, it had me laughing out loud a few times and smiling throughout my reading. Funny and charming characters that you warm to instantly and a nice, if not demanding plot that drives the story along at a good pace. A solid 4 star read and the start of a cozy paranormal romance/crime series Dead End Dating by Kimberly Raye.

Lil Marchette is a born vampire, part of an elite vampire family that traces its routes back past Napoleonic France. Lil is the black sheep of the family, rejecting her mother's attempts to match make her with another born vampire as 'Eternal mates' and therby not providing her parents with much desired grandchildren. Then there's her father's desire for her to take her place working for the family business (Moe's stationary and print supplies and awful beige uniforms) alongside her brothers. No Lil is a New York fashionista who is addicted to the very best labels, prefers a spray tan to vampire pasty and enjoys wearing blonde highlights in her hair, much to her mother's disapproval.

Lil has finally decided to strike out on her own, setting up her new business - 'Dead End Dating', after all, everyone (even Vampires) deserve a happy ever after - even if romance is not the natural way of finding mates in Born vampire society. Unfortunately Lil has stretched her credit to start her business and clients are thin on the ground. Added to this a serial kidnapper who targets lonely and isolated human women looking for love has moved to New York. Lil knows this because a sexy as sin Bounty Hunter - Ty Bonner - made vampire (and big 'no no' for a born vampire) told her.

Between dodging the demands of her parents, finding matches for her troublesome and limited clients, scanning for a potential kidnapper, paying the mounting bills and fulfilling her designer addiction, Lil now has to grapple with her raging hormones whenever she thinks about the seriously hot and definitely off limits bounty hunter Ty. ...more

Kimberly Raye is one of my favorite authors and so I liked this book. I didn't love it though because I have never been a Sex and the City fan and this book is based on that...although done the vampire way. It is just hard for me to relate to a character drooling over designer purses, shoes, etc. I did love that it has a sexy vampire from Skull Creek, a series of Ms. Raye's that I adore. Hoping to see a little more development in book 2. ...more

Started Dead end Dating by Kimberly Raye got to 30% and am dropping it ! It reads like a silly copy of the Undead series by MJDaivson. (a series I enjoyed in the early books)The main character is fashion/labels/looks obsessed, she turns into a pink bat ?!? I found myself skipping paragraphs, forcing myself to turn the page, time to quit. Just a big fat DUH from me.
